RISE is pleased to announce our second half-day career networking summit on Wednesday, August 6 from 2-4 pm. The focus of this summit is on the variety of career paths in science education, including teaching at the secondary level, lecturing at the college level, directing outreach, and researching the best practices of teaching. We have invited the following science education professionals to discuss their experiences and advice on pursuing these types of careers:

  • Catherine Wolf, Biology teacher at Brookline High School
  • Sue Offner, Biology teacher at Lexington High School
  • Nick Sylvain, Special Instructor at Dartmouth College
  • Dipa Shah, Associate Director for Teaching and Learning at MIT’s Teaching and Learning Laboratory
  • Brindha Muniappan, Director of Education and Public Programs at the MIT Museum
  • Irene Porro, Director at the Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Center for Education and Teaching Excellence at Framingham State University
  • Jennifer Aizenman, Director of Outreach at Bridgewater State University

The summit will be held on Wednesday, August 6 from 2-4 pm in the Koch Institute Auditorium (76-156) at MIT. Refreshments will be served. We hope that you will be able to attend the summit to meet other RISE members, gain insight from our career guests and each other, and gain advice on mapping out your career path.
